Hey.. it's me... We didn't eat pancakes which kind of disappointed me... despite me not liking pancakes, I like banana pancakes, and crepes, but that's it. They just resemble flabby pieces of dough. (lol) I'm listening to Cults, Cryptids and Conspiracies. It is a great podcast. I like weird shit like that. Hey Joe joseph_teller ! You ever hear of this podcast??? I know he may cos he likes this stuff too.

I'm going to just relax and listen to this podcast. Or whatevs... I'm getting tired so... maybe I will listen to more CCC tomorrow.

Tomorrow is Valentines/Galentines Day. I am just going to enjoy the day, and focus on my two sisters/bffs. I am single as a Kraft slice of cheese. Ha! LOL...

Tomorrow, I'm calling social services to see if there are any viable alternatives to living with my god-complexed narcissistic parents. This evening, my mother rolled back weeks of psychiatric progress I had made by being a total nagging bitch to me while I was eating dinner. I had bought and was planning on giving her a gift card for Valentine's, but now she doesn't deserve it (and my genuinely accepting church is now my official Valentine), and I probably won't give it to anyone unless either of my parents wises the hell up (the next day I would be able to give is my father's birthday in May).

Yes I've heard a few episodes a while back, the hosts did an appearance over on one of my other regular podcasts. I didn't pick them up, probably because at the time I had far more to listen to than time to listen.

Ok.... here's Neopets Lore, as best as I can find it....

Neopets launched their website in 15 November 1999. The site creators were Adam Powell, a student at the University of Nottingham and Donna Williams and the two started work on the site in September 1999. Powell had done the programming and database, and Williams the web design and art. The original goal was to "keep university students entertained, and possibly make some cash from banner advertising".

By Xmas they had logged 600k page views daily and they had to find investors to pay for the costs of running the site (some hosting sites could be outrageous in those days, I remember my own site had to be moved in 1999 as our host started charging WAY more than a hobby site could afford, and we never had more than a few thousand views in one day).

American businessman Doug Dohring was introduced to the creators of the Neopets site and, along with other investors, bought a majority share in January of the following year. Neopets, Inc. was incorporated by Dohring in February 2000, and began business on 28 April. Dohring used Scientology's Org Board to manage the company.

Powell and Williams were unaware of the Scientology connections until searching the employees at the newly formed company six months later but did not address this until the company hired a woman to introduce Scientology to Neopets. Powell and Williams stopped the addition of any Scientology education to Neopets and ensured such content never made it into anything site-related.

With the new company, intellectual property that did not belong to Neopets was removed but the site kept the British spellings. The website made money from the first paying customers using an advertising method trademarked as "immersive advertising".

In 2004, Neopets released a premium version and started showing advertisements on the basic site that were not shown to premium members.

Viacom the American conglomerate that owns Nickelodeon (and lots of other companies at the time and to follow in media), purchased Neopets, Inc. on 20 June 2005 for $160 million and announced plans to focus more on the use of banner ads over the site's existing immersive advertising. The Founders Powell and Williams left Neopets, Inc. shortly after the purchase due to "creative differences".

The following year, a gaming event called The Altador Cup was released to improve interactivity between users and to coincide with the 2006 FIFA World Cup; it had 10.4 million participants in its first year.
This was considered a HUGE success at the time.

Lots more changes, including a cash store, were introduced with a complete redesign of the website and systems involved... but the above pretty much covers the Scientology stuff you were asking about.

Call me Joe, master of weird research :-) Helps that I was on the internet BEFORE it was commercial as well as afterwards, and I ran a BBS before, and then later a website for decades on the internet.

Can only use one coupon per transaction and they have to be used by the end of March.

They were given as a bonus when you bought gift cards last Christmas season.
You got $10 for every $25 you spent on gift cards.
Unfortunately they gave them out in $5 coupons.
